This is a series of interviews I’ve done with the online Radio Trade All Access. It’s an online resource for the radio industry that the Music Industry goes to daily for news & information. Every week they do interviews with radio people from stations all over the country. I’ve been asked to do it a few times. Usually, I’m pretty consistent in my answers. But, there are subtle differences, and new considerations that come out each time. I’m what they like to call “good copy.” That means they know they’re going to get something provocative. I am what some would call “opinionated.” I blame being from Boston. We all know “those people are so obnoxious!”
I scanned the oldest one, but the others were converted to Word docs. When you click them, your computer will ask if you want to open them with Word. If you’re interested…have at it 🙂

I sat in for a couple of weeks on SoCal’s KNEWS Radio. It was an audition for their afternoon drivetime host position. Now I have never been a Talk Radio host. I’ve guest-hosted as a Sports-Talk guy, and I’ve sat in and co-hosted on Boston’s WRKO. But, the idea of being a Talk Radio guy had never occurred to me. So, when they asked me to sit in, I took the opportunity. I’m glad I did. It was a really good time. I got offered the job. But, we just couldn’t make it happen economically. Southern California is an extremely expensive place to live. I wish we’d have been able to make it work. Perhaps Talk Radio is an avenue I should explore more? We’ll see. Hope you enjoy the shows. I think they turned out better than I’d have anticipated.

Yep…this was April 20th. The magical “420” holiday. So, I spent the day discussing/advocating the legalization of Marijuana. The idea that so many people are dying in border clashes. And money wasted putting people in prison for Marijuana, when alcohol is far more destructive to American culture. So many things tabled…and so much of it forgotten due to THC intoxication. You’re already listening aren’t you? OK….have fun.

This is a pretty personal issue for me. I feel old every time I bring it up. But…we’re at the point where I’m tired of hearing about how the system is being dumbed down to accommodate every individual on the planet. During this show, I found out that funding for Summer School education in the Coachella Valley had been cut. Thereby making the availability limited to those who “really need it.” Which made me wonder; When the hell did Summer School become an acceptable endeavor? Summer School is not supposed to be a reward…or an option to utilize to get ahead. Summer School is what happens when you screw up so badly during the school year, that you are faced with either giving up your Summer vacation to make up credit, or repeat the failed grade again. That’s it. It’s not state-sponsored Summer camp. So…after I rip the “Birther Movement” in the first segment, I get into the discussion…
