Yep…this was April 20th. The magical “420” holiday. So, I spent the day discussing/advocating the legalization of Marijuana. The idea that so many people are dying in border clashes. And money wasted putting people in prison for Marijuana, when alcohol is far more destructive to American culture. So many things tabled…and so much of it forgotten due to THC intoxication. This is a pretty personal issue for me. I feel old every time I bring it up. But…we’re at the point where I’m tired of hearing about how the system is being dumbed down to accommodate every individual on the planet. During this show, I found out that funding for Summer School education in the Coachella Valley had been cut. Thereby making the availability limited to those who “really need it.” Which made me wonder; When the hell did Summer School become an acceptable endeavor? Summer School is not supposed to be a reward…or an option to utilize to get ahead. Summer School is what happens when you screw up so badly during the school year, that you are faced with either giving up your Summer vacation to make up credit, or repeat the failed grade again. That’s it. It’s not state-sponsored Summer camp. So…after I rip the “Birther Movement” in the first segment, I get into the discussion…

This show focused on the notion that restrictive gun laws will reduce crime. California is surrounded by states with some of the most lenient gun laws in America. It also has a serious budget issue. To the point that Police & Fire services are now being cut. So, I asked the question; Do you feel safe? I advocated responsible gun ownership, and explained why the Police…are now unreliable.

I opened the show with discussing the double-standard of celebrity and worked toward the safety issue.

Yeah…I tried to avoid the issue. It seemed too easy to do a show about immigration in Southern California. I had every intention of wrapping up my stint on the station by doing “ADD Radio;” A series of light-hearted, fun stories to entertain. I started with the Brett Michaels story…

But then, the Governor of Arizona threw down that racist law, that targets “brown people.” And I had to get into it. Little did I know that I’d end up programming Phoenix’ Rock Station!

In this section, I sit in with my good friend Ronni Hunter, at Columbus’ 99-7 The Blitz! As it goes…they had just flipped the station back to The Blitz after a failed experiment as another Rock-flavor. They were looking for a new Morning Show, and I was asked to fly in and sit with Ronni to see if we had any chemistry. It wasn’t really my show. I was a guest of Ronni’s. We had a Producer, who did a great job. But, I’m used to running my own audio and pretty much controlling the show. In hindsight, I think I blew it. I should’ve done this differently. Ultimately, we didn’t get the gig. Which sucks for me. I really wanted this one. Ronni’s a great friend, and the owners of the station are great people. They deserve a winner, and I wanted to help deliver one to them.  So…here’s the audio. Warts and all. Sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. This was a crushing loss for me.
