This is from Freaker’s Ball in Kansas City. We spent a bit o’ time talking videos and it was just about the time they were going through the issues with the “Crazy Bitch” video. The girl who falsified identification to take part, and then her mother, after finding out her little angel was doing things she shouldn’t have been, tried to sue the band. They were reluctant to discuss it…so I took the reigns and laid it out there.

Sitting stage left in front of over 50,000 people at Rockfest. The largest one-day event in the Midwest a few years running. With Chris from Trapt. I’ve had a couple of opportunities to talk to former Soundgarden/Audioslave vocalist Chris Cornell over the years. During these calls, I’ve found Chris to be somewhat evasive, and (dare I say it) slightly untruthful as to the real answer to some questions. I like Chris. There’s no doubt the guy is one of the cornerstones of a musical movement. I do get the impression that he’s a reluctant (pardon the pun) voice. Hear for yourself…This one begins with me asking him if he’s still in Audioslave. Rumor had it, he was leaving. Turns out he was. But…he wasn’t ready to cop to it yet.
And then…about a year later, Chris is out of Audioslave. And we revisit the original conversation. Chris actually cops to lying about some stuff. And then we get into the oft-rumored “Audioslave broke up before the first CD and weren’t going to last anyway” discussion. And, he and I go pretty deep into geek-music-fan discussion. When Soundgarden reunites…don’t be surprised. Here he is…”the voice of a generation!”
