It’s surprising to me that it took this long for Yimmy & I to meet. Jim is most known for his association with the Opie & Anthony radio show. O&A and I go back to (I think) 1995? We worked together @ WAAF in Boston, and shared some fun times. They’ve been very kind to me whenever someone calls their show, and mentions my name. In fact, Jim mentioned he did my show the Monday after this aired & they said some really nice things. So…if you’re reading Jim (or O&A)…thank you for being classy.

I’m not sure Jim expected me to tell the story about how I read his first book (He has two…they’re BOTH awesome!) in an awkward locale.

Anyway…Here’s the audio. Thanks to Jim for stopping by & my apologies to Club Soda Kenny, whom I didn’t really get much time to talk to. He’s a good dude.

You’ve heard me say it on the air at several stations over the years; There are very few artists I’ve come in contact with over the years, that I call real friends. Tesla, are very good friends. They’ve gone above & beyond on my behalf several times. It means a ton. I’ve been fortunate to have been on stage with them several times. They’re solid on every level, and I’m glad we’re friends. Did I mention they’re a great band? That’s almost secondary. They’re great people. Welcome any time in my studio. No matter where we are.

You don’t even question it…The hotline rings and you answer; “Who is this?” The response is; “This is the Metal God!” And suddenly, you’re joined by the one-and-only Rob Halford. And Rob…might just be the best phone guest you can ask for. The guy is always pleasant, and ready to both plug the event he’s involved in, and can hang like a brother. I always enjoy speaking with him. This was no exception.

Believe it, or not…This is actually the first time I’ve met the guys in Skid Row. They’re humble & cool & as down-to-earth as can be. I learned a nice fun-fact; Apparently Snake Sabo is also a manager. He’s got side-gig, working for Doc McGhee. How about that? Good to have a backup plan, in case that whole “band thing.” doesn’t work out for him.

Kenny Wayne & I go back to 1997. I was working for WMFS. We had a promotion set up where he & the band would go to a winner’s house and give them an autographed guitar and BBQ party. We had every expectation of it being some toothless redneck’s place. Turned out it was a really nice place. We hung out all day and really had a great time. 14 years later, Kenny & his vocalist Noah, landed in Phoenix and came straight to the station. No stop @ the hotel. No “rock star” trip. They came. they played. They did what they do. Kenny (and Noah) are class guys. This was their appearance…Raw. Two guys. Two guitars. Two mics. That…is how it’s done. No bullshit.
