So…you may have heard me play Disturbed’s “Liberate” together with Chaka Khan’s “I Feel For You” a few times over the years. Fact is…they’re the same song. I told David. He was…euphemistically surprised. This was long before Mashups became popular. I will edit this piece and insert the track so you can hear it for yourself. It’s VERY funny…now. It wasn’t to David.

This was pretty early on in the career for these guys. VERY smart, and tolerant. A good day in NoCal. I wish they’d have stayed together. I thought they were more musical than Slipknot, to whom they were most compared. And, if I’m being honest, I think Hellyeah sucks. So, if these guys decided to reunite someday, I’d go check it out.

This is the first time we met so many years ago. Zakk wanted to KILL me! At the time, it was strongly rumored that Mike Inez, who was playing bass for BLS at the time, was about to announce his departure to assume the Metallica slot. Zakk hadn’t been told anything, and was more than a little annoyed that we were bringing it up. Little did I know at the time, that we’d go on to embark on a bromance that’s lasted over a decade. This was very early on during the short time Jason played with both Voivod & Ozzy. Ozzy canceled the show in Sacramento that day. So, Jason played his set with Voivod, and then came to hang out. I’d always heard that he was a difficult guy. Nothing could be further from the truth. Jason’s a smart guy, who suffers no fools. He knows pretty quickly if you know your sh*t. I feel like we hit it off.

Dave was such a good guy. You won’t find anyone who knew him, who has a bad word to say about him. A genuinely nice guy, who just wanted to hang. Completely sad that he left us so early. That’s what drugs do. They kill. I miss Dave. Fun fact: he was also a better singer than people thought. But…he wasn’t the most photogenic guy. Hello pot? This is the kettle…You’re black.
