Because let&#8217;s face it, funny is funny. And ethnic accents = funny. this bit came from the mind of our old night guy in Sacramento, Chris Payne. Chris saw the name of some cleaning company and *thought* it said &#8220;Shao Lin&#8221; something. Of course, we never bothered to follow up. We just decided to write a bit. Now&#8230;here&#8217;s the kicker. We had a woman of Chinese descent in our business office. Before we ran the bit on the air, we did the responsible thing, when preparing to present racially insensitive material; we got someone *of* that race, to sign off on it, so we felt better about ourselves. Today, this would&#8217;ve been grounds for firing.
