Definitely touring this year…but we’ll see how it goes. Joe Perry doing a new Joe Perry Project? Definitely. Confused? You won’t be. After listening to this latest edition of Second Helping. When this was produced, the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame were deciding who to induct for its Class Of 2010. For the first time, after being eligible for ten years, KISS were being considered. Unfortunately, they got shafted in favor of ABBA. Yeah…that just happened!  Now let’s put aside the fact that they have 37 Gold Records & have sold over 80 Million worldwide. It’s not like that matters right? Let’s forget that they broke records held by the Beatles for concert attendance. Let’s exclude the fact that they were the biggest band on earth in the mid 70’s Everyone knows “KISS sucks” right? Wrong! Sit back and enjoy a whole bunch of KISS music you’ve probably never heard before. Because unless one guy has 80 million records in his basement, KISS are Rock n’ Roll Hall Of Fame worthy! Enjoy!!!!

This band is a prime example of what I wanted to do with this show. I’ve been doing radio a long time. And throughout the years, there’ve been amazing bands that got overlooked/passed over/ignored because they don’t quite fit what radio does these days. This is one of those bands. They’re called Porcupine Tree. And they’ve been around for almost 22 years. A lot of people ask me to turn them on to something different. And this is the epitome of that. Part Pink Floyd – part Yes – part Tool – part Prog – part Metal. Almost indescribable. A great band. This show won’t do them total justice. It is but an introduction. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed putting it together. This…is Second Helping: Porcupine Tree!

It’s the latest edition of Second Helping. In this segment, I realize I need a wind screen for my home studio (having been let go from my regular job on the radio in KC)  and then, hook you up with the song that has come to define where I am right now from the Kinks. Also…tracks from COC, Jimmy Page, My favorite Ozzy track, The Scream….and the vastly underrated, Brother Cane. Go ahead…you know you want to.

Segment two features Australian band Airbourne Who should have been huge last year…but somehow got overlooked. Also, I serve up some Diamond DLR, the legendary Thin Lizzy, and a punk rock ANTHEM!! If you touch it, I won’t tell.

We wrap it up with an amazing track from guitar legend Steve Vai (featuring SYL leader Devin Townsend), The Four Horsemen, Danko Jones & Eff’n Motorhead. We both know you’re gonna hit that…

Welcome to Neanderpaul’s “Second Helping. This is an idea my buddy Robert & I came up with during a weekly business call. See…I get sidetracked easily when talking about music. I like to talk about good music. And to be honest, we spend a lot of time discussing music that sucks. Of course, every boss I’ve ever had has said to me at one time or another; “Everyone’s a programmer!” And you know what? This is my place in the universe where I can be that programmer!

Every year, we in radio “miss” a ton of great stuff. Or, we have to let some songs go because there’s just not enough time in the day to play it all. And we have to get those requests on. So, some of those cool songs we played a bit, go away prematurely. I have always hated that. I also hate that we only play a couple of songs from a CD, and then move on. So I created this. It’s a “new music show,” featuring music that’s been around for a while. I call it “Second Helping.” Each “show” is about 1 hour, and broken down into segments. So, you can stream it at your convenience. It’s basically a collection of songs that I thought would’ve been cool to play. And some songs that got airplay. But…faded away quicker than they should’ve. The plan is to play all kinds of stuff, but primarily Rock-based. That means some Alternative, and Classic Rock. As well as some Metal & obscure Hard Rock tracks. Some you might even recognize. I’ll also try to keep you updated as to what the bands are doing, and where you can find their music. At this point it’s a podcast. But…who knows? Maybe we can grow this thing into something unique and get it on the radio. Either way…I do it because I LOVE music. And I hope you enjoy listening. Obviously, I’d love your feedback.
