Second Helping: Porcupine Tree
This band is a prime example of what I wanted to do with this show. I’ve been doing radio a long time. And throughout the years, there’ve been amazing bands that got overlooked/passed over/ignored because they don’t quite fit what radio does these days. This is one of those bands. They’re called Porcupine Tree. And they’ve been around for almost 22 years. A lot of people ask me to turn them on to something different. And this is the epitome of that. Part Pink Floyd – part Yes – part Tool – part Prog – part Metal. Almost indescribable. A great band. This show won’t do them total justice. It is but an introduction. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed putting it together. This…is Second Helping: Porcupine Tree!

This is probably THE most amazing “new” music I have listened to in a very long time. Your description of them…part Pink Floyd, part Yes, art Tool, etc…..right on the mark. Corporate/American radio is so far off track when one realizes talent such as this goes without due recognition. The music resonates in a place deep within…..a rare thing for “today’s” music. Absolutely a favorite of mine now…..it has the same feeling of meeting someone for the first time yet feeling like you have known them forever. So comforting and exciting at the same time. Thanks for sharing this.
pretty damn good
Ya gotta give it up the P Tree! One thing I think is badass is that Neil Peart himself believes these guys are the most incredible band out there and actually sought out Gavin Harrison to meet him. Talk about a humbling experience! I was so pumped to see you spreading the good word Paul!!
P.O.U.P!!!
No doubt, this is one of the greatest new bands out there!! Paul–thanks for the tip a year ago, I would have never heard about them if it wasn’t for you!!!
I need to correct, they are not “new”, but a band making great “new music”!
